Canada’s share is higher at the close of trading; S&P/TSX Composite Index up 0.41% – Canadian stocks were higher at Wednesday’s close, as gains in sectors , and propelled stocks higher.

The biggest winners from the session on the were New Gold Inc (TSX:), which rose 9.71% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.13 at the close. BRP Inc (TSX:) added 9.06% or 8.11 points to end at 97.60 and Secure Energy Services Inc. . (TSX:) rose 7.53% or 0.42 points to 6.00 late in the session.

Biggest Losers Included Stelco Holdings Inc (TSX:), which fell 6.70% or 2.43 points to trade at 33.84 late in the session. Corus Entertainment Inc (TSX:) fell 4.29% or 0.12 points to end at 2.68 and Trisura Group Ltd. (TSX:) fell 3.74% or 1.35 points to 34.78.

Rising stocks outnumbered falling stocks by 519 to 488 and 106 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX compound options, fell 2.82% to 20.65.

In commodities trading, gold futures for December delivery fell 0.63% or 10.85 to $1,706.55 per troy ounce. Meanwhile, crude oil for October delivery rose 1.75% or 1.53 to $88.84 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.30% or 1, 21 to trade at $94.38 a barrel.

CAD/USD was unchanged 0.05% at 0.76, while CAD/EUR was unchanged 0.00% at 0.76.

US dollar index futures fell 0.15% to 109.36.
